Week 4 Reading Reflection

1) What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations? 

The biggest surprise was the part where it explained how to develop left and right-hemisphere skills.
2) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.

The part that was confusing to me was the part about learning to develop left and right-hemisphere skills.
3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?

How does a creative climate for successful entrepreneurship naturally come all together?  
4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?

I don't feel the author was wrong about anything in the chapter. Everything makes sense in every way the perfect entrepreneur would think and see.

Top 5 World Problems

Here are my top 5 world problems from last week:


1. Terrorism

Of course this is going to be on the list. This makes people live in fear. 


2. Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons

Nuclear war is what would put an end to this world. Use of this type of war is strongly not recommended. 


3. Obesity 

People get lazy and don't pay attention to their health. This is a leading cause for blood clots which then lead to strokes/death. 


4. Global Warming

When we constantly pollute the air, the atmosphere is being deteriorated which causes an increase in temperatures; to the point where it may eventually be too hot to live. 


5.  Spread of Disease

As one species we need to protect ourselves so we don't die out. 


I made terrorism my number one choice because that is mainly what causes nations to live in fear, without knowing what can happen at any time.


RANKED SOLUTIONS:

1. Obesity 

My solution to this would be to advertise about being healthy more.

A solution to this would be to always stay vaccinated.

My solution to this is war against it, hoping to end it at the source. (ISIS)

The only solution to this would to put an end to polluting the air with harmful chemical gases.

In my opinion there will never be a solution to this other than all the countries maintaining control. 

I believe that advertising against obesity was the best solution of them all because its something that people can really take into account, and its realistically the most simple solution to put an end to it. How hard is it to live a healthy lifestyle and monitor yourself?

Identifying Local Opportunities

    • Bank United reports that they're doing better than ever.
    • In comparison to other banks, BankUnited seems to be taking power due to their numbers.
    • The competing banks to BankUnited.
2)
    • Nicaraguans in Miami to celebrate anniversary of immigration law
    • Here
    • A celebration is set to take place by Nicaraguans in Miami due to the anniversary of the new immigration law coming up.
    • Theres not much of a problem, except for the one that was existent prior to the change of the law.
    • Prior to the change, Nicaraguans were part of the population effected.

    • Miami-Dade's unemployment rate inches up in December amid Latin American woes
    • Here.
    • Local unemployment in Miami has gone up in the last month, rising up from 6 to 6.1 percent.
    •  The problem in the story is the economy of the city not being where it should be, so people are losing jobs and remaining unemployed.
    • The people who are unemployed are the ones with the problem, and the local businesses are losing money because of this domino effect.

    • Single-family home prices soar in Broward County
    • Here
    • Real estate is looking good for those who bought homes for low prices back a year ago, as prices in Broward County.
    • The problem is buying homes, because prices are high now.
    • The people who are looking to buy homes are dealing with the problem.

    • I was downgraded on my flight home, but charged more
    • Here
    • Someone had a problem with their airline and was wanting to be placed somewhere else for less. 
    • The person who switched ended up paying more for less quality.
    • The buyer of the ticket who flew on United Airlines had the problem.

1) What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?
----The thing that stood out the most was the model of entrepreneurial motivation. This shows an accurate demonstration of how the average entrepreneur is supposed to be motivated naturally.

2) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
---- The model of entrepreneurial motivation.

3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?
---- "Is the model of entrepreneurial motivation accurate?" Thats a very specific way to see it.

4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?
---- I honestly didn't disagree with anything about the author in this chapter.

World's Biggest Problems


1. Terrorism

Of course this is going to be on the list. This makes people live in fear. My solution to this is war against it, hoping to end it at the source. (ISIS)


2. Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons

Nuclear war is what would put an end to this world. Use of this type of war is strongly not recommended. In my opinion there will never be a solution to this other than all the countries maintaining control.

5. Economic Collapse
Fragilities in the current global economy could tip the developed world into conditions not seen since the 1920s. Solution to this would be to manage the U.S. budget a lot more efficiently.



6. Extinction of Species

Certain species that human beings depend upon for our food supply are going extinct; if their numbers fall too low we may face extinction ourselves. A solution to this would be to monitor our health as a whole.


7. Spread of Disease

As one species we need to protect ourselves so we don't die out. A solution to this would be to always stay vaccinated. 


8. Poverty

Human poverty is devastating to those that have to live through it. This is caused mainly by inequality. A solution to this would be to always make an effort to help those in need.


9. Hunger

Hunger is a big problem in some places of the world. Circumstances are very different and make it hard for some people to gather food to eat. A solution to this would be to again always make the effort to help those in need.


10. Lack of Drinking Water

Some places in the world such as Brazil are experiencing heavy droughts of water as a whole. Leaving everyone in the heat with no hydration is not a good thing. A solution to this would be to constantly send water to those areas and hope for scientific technology to come through with something.

Week 2 Reading Reflection

1) What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations? 
----What stood out the most to me was the specific details on the essential ingredients to being an entrepreneur. These details are very direct and informal on the correct ways an entrepreneur actually sees things.

2) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
----The most confusing part of the chapter to me was the part about the entrepreneurial assessment approach.

3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?
---- One question I'd ask the author would be: How does one successfully reach the title "Gazelle"? I'd ask this because in order to actually reach $100,000 in sales, you'd have to have the right product.
----The second question I'd have: How does one find the right product? In other words, how does one find his/her passion for selling something specific. I ask this because the market is huge nowadays, especially since technology is advancing faster than ever before.

4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?
----From what I read, I don't think theres anything wrong about the author. They know what they are talking about.

1. Disorganization
Why does this exist? Laziness.

Why does this exist? Some people just can't control themselves.

Why does this exist? Its inevitable.

4. People who have no motivation
Why does this exist? Because they haven't yet learned to see the bigger picture of things maybe.?

5. When all the good food places here in Gainesville close early
Why does this exist? Because the owners decided to make it like that

6. People who aren't reliable
Why does this exist? Its natural, theres people that will forever do that.

7. Bossy people
Why does this exist? Some will always assume they are on top of everyone else.

8. People who cant keep promises
Why does this exist? Not everyone is reliable.

9. People who don't have respect for others
Why does this exist? There will always be these type of people

Coming up with the number of things I put on this list was honestly very difficult. I'm usually the type of person to not really be bugged by much because I never pay attention to any distractions, as I always strive to see the bigger picture of everything and focus more toward my goals.

My Entrepreneurship Story

When I was in middle school, I would bring candy in my backpack and sell it to students at school. Now that I think about it, its kind of funny to look back and think about the ways I figured out to make some sort of personal "income" as a young kid.

As to why I enrolled into this course, it was because of my desire to hopefully become a successful man in the future with the mind of an entrepreneur. What I hope to accomplish in this course is to realize and carry the knowledge to guiding myself directly to success the same ways an entrepreneur would.

Hi,

My name is Joey Rubio and I'm from Miami, Florida. I come from a Cuban background, from both sides of my family. I am currently majoring in Political Science, mainly focused toward entering the field of law. What I hope to accomplish in life is to become a successful lawyer at a big firm one day, with the hobby of managing famous producers/artists in the EDM industry as I am currently a journalist for EDMTunes.
